Today's my blog's anniversay!

31st December!

It's been a whole year.

Majority of my posts are 'Soh as previous Maiden' and I've since discarded that theory personally but I'll still take it into consideration when making posts. (I'm always changing my mind) I'll create a tag for it: 'Maiden Soh Theory'.

I'm also still going to publish old posts that discuss this theory. I have many I don't want to discard just yet.

Being able to look into the files has changed my perspective.

Being away from Kunitsu-Gami, too, has made me look at it differently. I understand Soh's personality better while before, I was too biased towards Yoshiro. But intuitively, I knew her.

My 'Play' Anniversary!

Today was the day I first bought and played Kunitsu-Gami: Path of the Goddess!

I played the demo on 25th July last year. The wait to buy it on sale was agony...

But I had quite a few dreams about the game.

What made me remember this game was Youtube recommending me its battle tracks because I had been listening to Okami's music. Upon hearing Villager Rhythm Opus 2, I immediately went to check the price of the game, then downloaded the demo and the rest came after...

Happy Spring/Autumn!

I became engrossed in a new game, which led me to believe Kunitsu-Gami's main message is Taoism.

he's literally me

I finished playing Nine Sols(4 times) and something about it reminds me of Kunitsu-Gami. (And Okami)

I recommend trying it out, if you like metroidvanias and are looking for something new to play. It's more story heavy though.

This game is what made me think Taoism might be the real theme in Kunitsu-Gami.

I'm reading the two main books on Taoism(I have only read one so far) and in my search, I found a website with many translations of each chapter of the Tao Te Ching. I was surprised to see how much I agree with the philosophy. I wonder if this is why I like Kunitsu-Gami so much?

I now think Kunitsu-Gami has Taoism at its core.  But I will make a post on this trying to explain my reasoning(explaining myself is difficult...)

It's Shinto on the surface. Purifying impurity. But perhaps the story is far deeper than that.

Someone also sent me a nice message but I couldn't reply because their email was a disposable one. Thank you for it! I'm always happy to hear from another Kunitsu-Gami fan!!

Some personal thoughts on Toaism...

Update.

I turned on the default mobile theme because I think it's easier on the eyes. It lists posts as links too which looks quite neat.

But it doesn't show tags, something important for this blog.

It would be great if the tags could be listed both on the post itself and beneath the post on the main page.

But editing the mobile theme seems to be tricky... I have managed to add this on the web version.

I've listed all posts and tags here.

I'm almost at 4k views on this blog but it doesn't mean anything because it counts appearing in search engine results as a 'view'. So I don't really know what my real view count is. I just think it's fun to celebrate milestones, even if they are imaginery.

Now that I discovered embedding Twitter posts, I'd like to post photos taken by others on Twitter. It just seems better to be able to showcase their tweet rather than uploading their photo and linking to their Twitter.

Speaking of photos and photo mode...

I follow this particular person on Twitter and they've posted a few great Kunitsu-Gami images. But they've deleted them all?

This one in particular caught my eye but the original doesn't exist anywhere anymore.

I wonder why?

He takes photos of cute girls although I want to see Yoshiro and Soh again...

The user is Horace0816 on Twitter.

I have a few posts I'm working on but right now, I'm playing another game...which is useful because it made me realize the Taoist influences in Kunitsu-Gami! I didn't know how much Shinto was influenced by Taoism.

I'll catch up on things when I'm fully done.

Masculine or Maternal?

These are brief thoughts adjacent to Kunitsu-Gami so you may skip it if you like.

Whether something is masculine or feminine depends entirely on the perceiver.

A Youtube comment mentioned Soh being a masculine woman and I'd argue she's maternal, as they are quite the same thing.

Providing and protecting is the mother's job in nature for quite a few animals. Or it's a joint duty the male and female share.

The maternal aspect fits even more when you consider Yoshiro is possibly her descendant. There's also the Goddess aspect and how we sometimes consider such a deity as a 'mother'.

Women are said to 'let themselves go/become more masculine' after having a child and the implication is they dress comfortably and don't have much time to adorn themselves. Their priority becomes their child.

Dressing comfortably or practically being equated with masculinity is a common idea.

On the opposite end, fragility, impracticality and 'beautiful' is feminine, as we see in Yoshiro's design. Her naked body is visible in certain angles and her feet are bare. Her outfit, by all means, is not practical.
(Of course, Soh's beautiful armor is very feminine and shows traces of her feminine figure yet many thought she was male. She's also considered 'masculine')

In order for such beautiful fragility to survive, it must be protected and guarded.

There's an emergence of this in the online scene, isn't there? Something about a 'soft life' and providing a woman a life where she's able to be 'feminine'. That is, her mate must provide a safe environment for her to be allowed to be fragile. Valuable things are often fragile. (Or perceived as such.)

...A pearl is embraced by an oyster. The oyster creates the pearl. Treasure belongs in a treasure chest or is guarded by a dragon. It's sought out by thieves, adventurers and pirates. (and Seethe, in the game's case) It's always guarded because it's always sought after.

Valuables are always guarded by default...

If you guard something, does it instinctively seek to become more valuable? Or does it become valuable automatically? (by virtue of being protected?)

What I mean is...if you guarded someone, would they find such value in themselves that they will become a valuable thing? If you personally give value to something, does it change? Or rather, does it change itself because of you?

Or is it like they say, to be loved is to be changed?

Then loving, too, must produce a change.

Soh being drawn too manly and called 'he'. I do not like it.

Browsing for Kunitsu-Gami images and seeing Soh being tagged as a boy when she looks like this

the tiny waist and breasts?

I turned the Maiden into a cute little sticker. :3
